Who can participate? Anyone - the challenges are open for all! If you’re interested in developing your technical skills, buffing up that repository, or just doing something meaningful, this is for you. We have 3 broad challenges to choose from, so you can pick what interests you the most.

Who is organizing the hackathon? The hackathon is organized by Junction, together with our partner companies.

Should I work alone or with a team? We always encourage teamwork, because it can widen your perspective on how to approach and solve tech challenges (we also think it’s more fun). The maximum team size is five people. However, working alone is also 100% okay!

Where can I find a team? Join our Slack for this hackathon - you can find yourself a team on the #teambuilding channel, or on Hacker Earth’s team-building.

What are the prizes? Each project is eligible to compete for the main prize, 5000€. In addition to that, partners will choose their favourite projects from the ones that choose their challenge.

How are the winners selected? Participants are to submit their project to Product Hunt, a future product platform. The project that receives most upvotes on Product Hunt wins the main prize. In order to be eligible for the main prize, the project should use at least 2 Rakuten RapidAPI API’s. In addition to that, partners use their own criteria to select winners of their challenges.

How do I sign up? On the main page of Impact Hackathon, choose the "Register for this hackathon".

Who owns the projects made for this hackathon? The participants own all solutions.

Can I start my project when the challenge has already begun? Absolutely! We know just how much can be accomplished in just weekend-long hackathons, so you don’t need to work on your project for the full 3 weeks the challenge is on. We do offer mentoring and help with your project, which is why we encourage starting a bit earlier that the last weekend, so you can get as much out of your project as possible!
